Repair and Reinforcement of structures

In this type of action the motivations to justify them have been several, we could mention, among them the entire provide a reserve in the coefficient of structural safety, as well as an improvement on the stability of structures or structural elements, another could be the increase the useful life of the docks or moorings, including the modify the basic mechanical features total or partially, or likewise optimize any combination of the above factors concerning its cost; therefore an intervention of this type can represent a cost lower than 50% of what it would be a reconstruction, in addition to what would mean economically that you do not leave out of service port facilities concerned.

Delta 9, since its inception, has innovated in this type of action, first with the introduction of the use of mortars in base repair cement; previously it had only been toward use of mortars in base epoxy resin, then with the use of systems and novel materials for injection of resins, the regeneration of piling through the encapsulated with polyester; or, more recently, the employment of anodes of sacrifice in the embedded volume regenerated with mortars.

Currently, is giving a new evolution in another direction, which can be summarized in the following postulate: place the Area intervened in their initial conditions, following two philosophies in the time to develop this principle:

  1. On the one hand the insulation and protection of the structural element concerned.
  2. The other is to try to reverse the actions of electrochemical corrosion, to the extent that this process possible.

In this type of structures, has been tested since 2003, the feasibility of establishing a control of the processes of corrosion of the concrete structures, in particular the intensity and potential of corrosion, which can lead us to correctly interpret signals of future damage, and therefore take appropriate corrective measures even before the effects become visible.

Some of our actions

DOCKS: dock of Figueira da Foz (Portugal)

The work consisted mainly in the regeneration of the concrete and refitting of frames of the slabs, headlands and Cantil beam of the spring. These works were made following the wet process, in accordance with our procedures manual.

Other work included the installation of surveillance cameras, installing electricity (center for processing and distribution network), new goal of entry and solera pavement to container terminal.

Installed a system for taking data on progress of corrosion in concrete.

CHEMICAL INDUSTRY : Repair of concrete structures for the production plants and towers of prill of ammonium nitrate for the company Fertial in Annaba and Arzew (Algeria)

Regenerated with mortars HR and inhibitors, is structurally reinforced with carbon composites and proceeded to protect with polyurethane resin cement.

Regenerated areas degraded by pouring concrete Superfluidificant material with additives.

BRIDGES: Reinforcement and recovery of the bridges of Pedorido (Portugal) and Boabdil (Spain).

Infrastructure in the degradation and the stresses are important are the viaducts and bridges, our firm has contributed to the reinforcement and recovery of these types of items, through the use of materials normally in cement base, as in the case of the bridges of Pedorido (Portugal) or Boabdil (Spain), in addition to propose the use of new techniques for control of corrosion processes.

FOOD INDUSTRY : packing plant of olives for ACYCO (group Carbonell).

This type of industry has been the subject of our interventions from the start, mainly the aggression chemistry that suffer the structural elements is the cause of the work that we have made; among the most representative are the work of regeneration and construction of a packing plant of olives for ACYCO (group Carbonell).

The particularity of the construction was the repair of the fermenters high and coatings antacids typical of this type of industry.

HYDRAULIC WORKS : Waterproofing of vessels, reinforcement, and regeneration of pillars and wrought.

In this type of facility the more frequent pathologies are those caused by the presence of highly chlorinated environments (deposits), failures in the implementation, abrasions, and lack of waterproofing. DELTA 9 has been involved in a myriad of projects in which presented some of these types of damage.

The central action is, in addition to waterproofing of vessels, the reinforcement and regeneration of pillars and wrought.

CHANNELS: Reinforcement and waterproofing of the channel of La minilla.

The treatments in this type of structure have a dual purpose; on the one hand strengthen the stability of vaults and pedestals, and secondly reducing the possible leaks of water; in the case of the channel of La minilla these treatments were carried out by concrete with mortars HR for the reinforcement, and by means of injections of gels for the waterproofing.

SILOS : SITA (Tarragona), flour (Cadiz), TAGOL, CEMEX (Ceuta and Melilla), INTERQUISA, ENDESA (CTLB and CTLA), Eastman, FERTIAL (CNTS and Annaba).

DELTA 9 has been involved in various projects for the recovery of structures of silos, and even of reinforcement of the same. Using this very innovative systems such as reinforcements with CFRP and EP; including systems of inhibition of corrosion by migration in vapor phase.

Between actions in silos of type food we can mention SITA (Tarragona), flour (Cadiz), and TAGOL.

And in silos we have industrial CEMEX (Ceuta and Melilla), INTERQUISA, ENDESA (CTLB and CTLA), Eastman, FERTIAL (CNTS and Annaba).

BUILDERS' HOISTS : Rehabilitation of the Casa del Vigia (Huelva, 1906).

Although it is not the primary activity of DELTA 9 in this type of action, there have been all kinds of work in the rehabilitation of structures, accordning to the reinforcement of structures, or the recovery of singular elements (overhangs, ledges, facades, … ).

Among the latest proceedings are the rehabilitation of the Casa del Vigia (Huelva, 1906) or reinforcement Building integral Alfonso XII (Madrid).
